1 . How do I become a FREE member?
Easy! Just go to the Registration page and select the option for FREE member access from the form that will appear . Fill out all the required details and await a confirmation email, which should usually arrive within a few minutes. It would be good to white list the email address info at www.mypilatesclub.com (replacing the word "at" with @ - Sorry but you just can't type email addresses properly on websites anymore because crazy people have invented robot systems that grab the address and then bombard you with unwanted spam!)
Check your spam folder if you don't safely receive the awaited email from us. If there is no sign, try registering again and if that fails, please do contact us direct using the contact form by clicking here .
When you do receive a confirmation email there will be a link on it that you must click in order to confirm your application. Further membership information and regular updates about health, fitness and what we're adding to the site for you will be delivered to you by email.
2 . Why can't I get access to all parts of the site?
If you are a FREE level member, you will have access to certain parts of the site but not others. To receive access to the Pilates video coaching courses and all parts of the site, you need to become a PAID member and select the course appropriate to you. Learn more about the site and the courses from the Learn More page in the Home section of the site. Subscribe for the access you require on the Registration page in the Home Section.
When you have filled in the registration form and your payment has been approved, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link that you must click in order to confirm your application. Further membership information and instructions will then follow to you by email together with access to each coaching video which will be delivered at timed intervals throughout the training course.
3 . I can't remember my password!
Aaaagh!! That's it - game over! Only joking!
There's an easy fix. Just go to the Login page here: http://www.mypilatesclub.com/home/member-login
Just click on the 'Forgot Password' link and you will be invited to insert your email address (the one you used to sign up with as a member). Your password will be sent again to that email address. Problem solved.
4 . How quickly will I get good at Pilates?
It takes some people a while to appreciate that Pilates is a technique to learn and practise throughout their lives. In simple terms, it's a skill that will help you stay fit and agile over the years, but you never reach an 'end'. It is a feature to include in your everyday life. Most people will start to feel some benefit from the classes we design within 2-3 weeks. That 'good feeling' will grow more each week and you will start to see the difference in your shape, posture and how you move and function in all you do each day.
5 . How long do the courses last?
Our beginners courses are designed to last about 5 months. Some people could progress a little quicker and some will require slightly longer. But we have designed the course with the majority in mind. By then end of this time, if you have carefully followed the advice and the fully practised the steps outlined, you should be feeling reasonably confident in the fundamental techniques.
It is important to understand that Pilates is NOT a race to a 'finish line'. The benefits come with enjoying the experience of practising the movements. Each course module is designed to be carefully practised until you are suitably proficient to move on to the next module. The most important thing is not to rush - but keep practising regularly and with close attention to detail. The video teaching will guide you over each aspect of the precise techniques required to achieve maximum benefit from the movements.
6 . Will I see improvement soon?
It doesn't take long to feel the benefits of Pilates. Most people comment about this after just a handful of practise sessions. To physically see the improvements, takes just a few weeks for many people. It tends to be the increase in energy, improved agility and posture that students may notice initially. Then as the weeks move on in the course, you will tend to see improvements in muscle tone and feel generally fitter.
By the end of a course, you will have developed new tone, strength and agility. Most people will see the physical improvements in their form and experience the benefits in all they do and in the way they feel mentally. Sleep can be improved, together also with alertness, concentration and mental energy.
You could then continue to stay at this level and practice the same classes continually to maintain your achievements and refine your technique. Or you could move on to an higher level of Pilates exercise to make greater progress and develop even better control, increased strength, greater mental energy levels and improved physical fitness.
7 . Is Pilates easy exercise?
Well - yes and no. Pilates is about careful, slow, gentle movement and not the massive, rapid, demanding actions found in some sports or other exercise disciplines. But whilst it is a gentle form of exercise, the precision and control of body movement required is quite high. This takes careful practise and the development of good muscular strength, control and co-ordination to be able to master the movements.
Thankfully, the exercise modules we have designed are very carefully structured to lead you on a journey of physical development. It cannot be emphasized enough that the modules must be followed exactly as presented and practised to steadily build up your abilities. (Naturally - if there is any movement that causes pain then you must stop and seek expert medical advice.)
You will be guided step by step very carefully in the training videos.
If the movements feel far too easy, then generally this means you need to study the movements more carefully and try hard to engage the muscle groups involved. If you're getting it right, you'll feel it does require some effort and above all lots of co-ordination and muscle control. This is why you need the regular practice and the course programme we have designed to develop the necessary core strength to carefully, slowly allow the movements to flow.
8 . Why buy an MPC course? I could get a cheap DVD!
Yes - you could just buy the latest celebrity Pilates DVD or book. But there's just no way of knowing what the quality and guidance or structure that is likely to be on offer. We have even found free Pilates video clips on the internet, but if people were to actually try and follow along with them. ? Painful! Whatever else is out there - it all seems so random to us!
That's why we decided it was necessary to have proper, carefully designed, structured Pilates progressions on video for people to follow along with. In addition to the benefits of being able to access the course whenever and wherever you are (with an internet connection), you will be receiving structured course material that is tailored to carefully develop your abilities and learn new skills over a period of time.
We are also interested in your feedback to be able to add more to the structure as necessary and help you into the bargain. Plus we are always on the lookout for interesting resources and articles about other health and wellness matters to put on the site to benefit our members.
9 . Videos stop and start when playing
Our videos are filmed in a studio at high quality. They are then converted and compressed after editing into a format suitable to stream online. Occasionally what can happen is that the member's internet connection cannot receive the streaming video data quickly enough to keep up. That's when the 'stop / start' may occur. This is likely to vary through the day depending upon the fluctuating demand upon your local internet service.
The easy remedy is to start the video and then click the pause button on the player. Leave it paused for a minute or so and then play. You should find this solves the problem.
