Mini eCourse Program

What we have done in this ecourse is to draw upon the teachings of the creator of the Pilates technique (Joseph Pilates) and present a beginner’s level module. The vast majority of newcomers to Pilates will therefore be able to tone and transform with these exercises. With regard lower back pain sufferers, these are a series of exercises that work well and will be helpful to most people with a history of non-specific general lower back pain. Do take note however of the specific cautionary comments included with some of the exercises. Not all exercises are suitable for everyone.

It would be really easy to demonstrate Pilates with just the expert Pilates coach telling you how it should be done or to have a really fit model posing the movements. But you are real people with a desire to tone up, get rid of grumbling back pain issues and look and feel fitter. So we thought we owe it to you to be real too!

So, the stocky middle aged guy you see in this course is … ME.

My name is Mike Rawski and I am co-founder of MyPilatesClub.com. I had been a lower back pain sufferer for over 30 years until I was introduced to Pilates by a good friend by the name of Bridgette Bradley. The coaching I received from Bridgette transformed my life. I figured that if you are going to believe in this stuff, you need to see that I really do “walk the walk”. So, we photographed and video recorded my progress throughout my development from complete newcomer to Pilates, to someone with a good grasp of the exercises and major improvement in my body!

Within a month I felt significantly more secure with my lower back and generally more toned and flexible. After just a few months my physique had improved greatly, my core was strong, I had developed balance and agility I had not experienced ever before and I felt on top of the world mentally and physically. I have also never had a major back relapse since taking Pilates into my life.

What I will add though is that no amount of Pilates will make up for over-indulging a liking for cake, chocolate, beer, wine, etc. So, give me a break. I’m human. Oh yes – I’m also in my 50s – so compared to some I’m not doing too badly!

So really I’m saying that if I can make great achievements with my body by following the MyPilatesClub programs, most of you can too.

Is Pilates easy exercise?

Well – yes and no. Pilates is about careful, slow, gentle movement and not the massive, rapid, demanding actions found in some sports or other exercise disciplines. But whilst it is a gentle form of exercise, the precision and control of body movement required is quite high. This takes careful practise and the development of good muscular strength, control and co-ordination to be able to master the movements. This is an easy question to answer, but the end results will not be achieved without effort and close attention to the lessons over a sustained period, so that Pilates becomes a normal part of all that you do in your everyday life. Before starting any new exercise regime it is important to be sure you are fit enough and will not cause yourself harm. Our advice to any new student is to have a medical check up by your doctor.
